Greeting from the Empire State Rest, Relax, Restore… hopefully that was your summer. As the 106 th National Convention in Phoenix Arizona is now in our rear-view mirror and we are looking forward to new opportunities and challenges. Thank you to all outgoing National Officers, may the work you’ve done speak for you. Congratulation to all National elected and appointed officers including our own Rashein B. McDonald, Recording Secretary, Vickie Daniels-Matthews, Chaplain, Verneal Kizer-Cooper, Chairman of Henry Ballad Mass Choir, Jamal Edwards-Frayer, President of Young Adult Department, Jordan Nichols, Third Vice President; YA Department Board of Directors: Argusta Stevens, Vice Chairman, Kimberly Jones, Assistant Financial Secretary and Deanna Wheeler, Assistant Sergeant At Arms. Sixty-two delegates from New York State attended the 106 th National Convention 47 Seniors, 8 Young Adults, 5 Juniors and 2 Visitors. Jessie A Burnett Arts and Craft Department project theme was: “Baby Shower”. The items were donated to the Jose’s Closet which is founded in memory of Jose, a beloved foster child whose dying wish was not to be forgotten. Though his life was short, his legacy lives on in the thousands of children supported through Jose’s Closet. During Thursday, July 24, 2025, session, 37 Diaper bags, 70 Bibs, 81 Burp cloths, 34 Blankets, 15 Crochets blankets and 7 Quilts all handmade, plus a number of purchased bibs and onesies, there was also a monetary donation of $260.00 New York State Arts and Craft Department donated 2 Diaper bags, 6 Bibs, 6 Burp Cloth, 1 Crochet baby blanket and 2 Baby Quilt. Griffith, Sr. Education Department Oration Contest Nina McLauchlin, 3rd Place Winner, George T. Grier School of Ushering King & Queen Contest Bachelor’s Degree Recipients: Sonia Branigan of First Baptist Church of Crown Heights and Crystal Munnerlyn of Mt. Ollie Baptist Church Brooklyn Unit Best wishes to the 38 CUA of Brooklyn & L. l. 2025 Graduates of the George T. Grier School of Ushering. By employing the Silent Methods of Ushering that you have gained as Doorkeepers in Gods house, may you serve with tack, compassion and a Christ like spirit that shows His light shining through you as a welcome others. Congratulations to all Churches and Departments that has held their Ushers Annual Sermon or other activities over the past few months. CUA of Brooklyn & LI Sarah Sherman Health Unit celebrated their 65th Anniversary, June 14, 2025. Mary Eley, Chairman. Reverend Wesley Payne of Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church was the guest speaker. Trinity Baptist Church sponsored an evening of Karaoke and Fashion Show, July 12, 2025, Reverend Joan Bernard Austin, Pastor.
