NATIONAL PRESIDENT DR. LINDA B. PATES

From the Desk of Dr. Linda Barnes-Pates

Greetings! Fellow Doorkeepers,

With great pleasure, your 25th National President greets you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Congratulations to the National United Church Ushers Association of America, Inc., as we prepare for the 106th convention in Phoenix, Arizona, in the Valley of the Sun. Let’s pray that the convention is spiritual, inspirational, and successful.

May you be blessed with the knowledge that you are never alone in life and that God will always be there to watch over you and guide you.

God does not give us everything we want, but He does fulfill His promises, leading us along the best and straightest pathways to Him.

We are living in a time of uncertainty. Trust the wait. Embrace the uncertainty. Enjoy the benefits of developing. Some of the most beautiful periods in our lives won’t have a name until much later. When nothing is specific, anything is possible through God’s Word. Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light. Moreover, may God grant us with the gifts of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, and temperance as we endure to be a servant in the Usher Ministry during these uncertain times. Let’s continue to pray for the world, national, state, and local governments, our organization, the sick, shut -in, bereaved, and the men and women who are serving in the military, as well as their families.

Stay Safe and healthy, and be a blessing to someone, for tomorrow may be your blessing!

Blessings,

HELEN B. HORNBUCKLE CHAIRMAN DESTINEE’ MERIDA

Dear Doorkeeper Family,

As we close out this year’s subscription, I want to extend my deepest thanks to each of you for your continued support. Whether you’ve been faithfully reading, sharing feedback, or simply looking forward to each issue — your engagement means everything. To our dedicated reporters and contributors: thank you for saying "yes." Your willingness to share your gifts, insights, and testimonies is the heartbeat of this publication. It is no small thing to commit time and energy to this work, and your faithfulness has not gone unnoticed. To our readers: your engagement and support are what keep the Doorkeeper alive. You remind us that the written word, when rooted in truth and purpose, can inspire, challenge, and unite. As many of you prepare to travel to the convention, I pray for safety, smooth transitions, and a deep sense of joy and connection. May this time together renew your spirit, deepen your calling, and remind you that you are part of something larger than yourself. My prayer for all of us comes from Philippians 1:3 – 6: "I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."

May your convention experience be rich, your fellowship sweet, and your vision clear. And may the next subscription year be even more fruitful than the last.
