The A. W. Briggs Health Unit maintains the First - Aid Room for the Organization. The Chairman is required to hold a current certificate from the Red Cross, and be a Practical or Registered Nurse. Members of this Department are required to hold a current First - Aid Certificate and some training in First - Aid procedures. The Department sets up the First - Aid Room / Station, and it is available to all who seek services within the realm of first - aid. The members do not administer any medicines, but are available to assist the Convention membership in getting appropriate care from the local hospitals via the Hotel Security Staff. The First - Aid Room is open throughout the Convention ’ s scheduled time. The health of those attending is foremost on the agenda, so the Department stresses the importance of following your Doctor ’ s orders by continuing your meds, food intake, and sleep during the time away from home. All State representatives are expected to be available at some time to monitor the First Aid Station. The Department meets three times during the duration of the Convention.
