ARIZONA

On Saturday, May 24, 2025, following their monthly meeting and training session, the Pilgrim Rest Senior Ushers went bowling to fellowship and to enjoy each other’s company ( see picture below ). On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, Pilgrim Rest Youth Usher Ryan Golden, Jr. as a member of his school’s orchestra performed in their Spring Strings Concert. The students played selections from film scores and some classical pieces. Ryan continues to improve his violin skills and enjoys doing so. He is supported in his violin endeavors by his proud grandmother, Pilgrim Rest Senior Usher Donna Wiley.

During the month of April, the Late Rev. C. R. McDuffy who pastored the St. John Institutional Baptist Church was honored with a ceremonial street sign. Phoenix District 8 Councilwoman Kesha Hodge Washington, other City of Phoenix Officials, the McDuffy Family, the St. John Church Family, along with community members officially unveiled the sign at the corner of 13 th Avenue and Buckeye Road. This recognition serves a reminder of the impact Rev. McDuffy had on the community that he served with the bread of life. The Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Family and Ushers hosted a fish fry on Saturday, May 31, 2025. The fish was fresh and hot, along with appetizing sides. During the first week of June the Baptist Ministry of Phoenix will host their annual revival for three nights at the Greater New Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Frederick D. Sampson of Houston, Texas will deliver the “Word” each night. With vacations, graduations, Father’s Day and family reunions on the horizon, the United Church Ushers of Arizona are looking forward to an active and fun-filled summer. As I Peter 4:9 says, the state of Arizona and the Western Region are eagerly waiting to welcome you to “the valley of the sun”, Phoenix, Arizona with open arms to the 106th NUCUAA National Convention!
